Momo is the next ghost in the machine. Forget about El Pollo Loco, this demon chicken is truly twisted. It appears to be a similar concept to the blue whale challenge that passed through the internets in the past year.
Contact is made through an associated contact on WhatsApp and then the menacing image begins threatening to appear at night and curse the user if they don’t respond to her messages. (the image is a Japanese sculpture called Motherbird). Users who interact are sent graphic and disturbing images and issues objectives. The app attempts to gather personal information to ‘dox’ the user. The three phone numbers associated with the app are in Mexico, Colombia, and Japan.
