We managed to make it approximately 190 years before these mass murders became as frequent as they have for the past 50. (That is something to consider.)
Ban ‘assault’ guns? Nah. Hey, I wish I could buy a machine gun and a bazooka- but, I don’t want to kill people. They would be cool to have. (And, it would be good to know you can hold down the fort in a pinch eh?) 
I’m sure everyone has heard the arguments on both sides of the gun debate. At the end of the day, mass murder by gun is done because it is convenient and cost effective- among the other reasons. Seriously, if you want to start banning this gun and that gun- yes it will cut down on deaths from that particular gun- but you will not stop the murders. If that is really the goal- zero mass murders- then you have to ban cars, chemicals, machetes, flame throwers, airplanes, knives, acid, clubs, toxins- and on and on.
Psychotropic drugs seem to be a common denominator in all these attacks. Anti-depressants and so forth. Personally I believe they play a big factor. We hear alot about mental health in these cases.
Has anybody noticed how the FBI/law enforcement seems to be a step slow in some of these shall we say?
Assault guns, mental health, psychiatric medications, inept police response- all of these are a factor. But if you want to ban something to make it stop- you will have to do what is impossible:
Ban evil.

In the 1910’s there were 19 school shootings. There would not be that many again during a decade until the 1960’s (18). The number has steadily increased since that time. The worst US school massacre was in 1927, 44 were killed and 56 injured in Bath Township, Michigan. Explosives. School board member. There are people who hate freedom. Freedom prevents them from accomplishing their goals. We have seen several incarnations of this group in recent history- as they were successful in seizing control of the government in various nations such as Russia, Germany, Italy, Japan and China. The most serious of these threats- Marxist Socialist Fascist Communist Globalist- did, in sports vernacular- complete several deep passes and came closer than most people realize to putting us away in the 1960’s. They took America by surprise with a complex, broad, sophisticated attack from within.
Realizing America could not be defeated militarily- the traditional means of conquest- a new age of asymmetrical warfare was launched whereby the Marxists infiltrated, and in some instances completely overwhelmed, influential and profoundly ingrained segments of our American experience. Specific areas that were so completely altered so as to be fundamentally different entities were the education system, popular culture, the mainstream media, churches, and the body politic- politicians and their policies. All of these had the same goal- attack and destroy the country by attacking and destroying the nuclear family.
In the 1960’s and 70’s the country was coming apart at the societal seams because of and not limited to: the controversial and vexing assassination of JFK, a false flag war that divided the nation, the anti-establishment Marxist-sponsored counter-culture, stark divisions- racial, sexual, generational, political- trust in institutions was gone and with that, the collective psyche lost its sense of security. Abortion became legal, God and prayer became illegal. The Sound of Music became Rocky Horror Picture Show. Morality became oppression.

But, it was the insidious attack upon the family that destroyed society. The traditional family became un-hip, old-fashioned, elitist, outdated, unaffordable, unnecessary, and most of all just plain not cool. And as the family fell apart, so did society.
Don’t believe me? Consider this:
Kids once took rifles to school for their shooting club. Now they take them there to kill. You have to look at what has changed to figure out why it has changed.

Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
If you look at your tax bill, you will see the biggest recipient is your school district. Where is their heart at? Where is their treasure?
They have money for multi-million dollar sports facilities. They can spend tens of thousands on once a year “special uniforms”. They have opulent schools that are embarrassingly gaudy. They have ever increasing numbers of highly paid ‘administrators’. Let me give these doctors and masters of education a little education: your school is a target. There are large numbers of unarmed people in there. Until we solve our societal ills- which at the rate we are going will be never- you need to protect our kids. Where is your treasure?
Metal detectors, canines, security. It can be done. Other institutions and public sectors do it everyday. You might have to forgo a diversity specialist here or an administrator of social concerns there, and maybe just have a home and away uniform without all the blackout special jerseys and so forth.
Where is your heart at? Hopefully it is with making our kids safe.
