Iran all night and day- couldn’t get away

They huffed, and they puffed, but they just couldn’t blow the resistance to war in Syria down. After years of red lines in sand, dubious poison gas incidents, and finally, a skeptical Commander in Chief- it is apparent the military industrial complex (MIC) has pivoted to a new foe- old foe Iran.

Syria has been a tough sell for the war-mongers. At the end of the day, Syria just doesn’t have the name-recognition required to whip up the masses. Many people have never heard of it, even more have no idea where it is, and nobody sees the need to be there. They don’t have a bin Laden or Saddam Hussein, no nuclear weapons, and no history of conflict to point to.

With signs pointing to further declining hostilities, and prospects growing slimmer by the day for someone to bomb the hell out of, the MIC has announced that things are going on- dangerous things- and it is all Iran’s fault.

As per usual, the attacks on the oil tankers are not without controversy. We say Iran did it, and we’ve got the proof. Considering our track record, such claims are reasonably met with skepticism.

It is easy to say Iran has nothing to gain from such an attack, but they haven’t done themselves any favors by threatening to do this very thing for months- including just three days prior.

Regardless of who did it, I believe the end result will be the same, and it is already a done deal. If it hadn’t been these tanker attacks, it would have been some other garden-variety provocation of the week. To illustrate my point with some good old-fashioned anecdotal evidence:

I had an interesting conversation last week with the Captain of one of those big vehicle carrier ships. These huge vessels, about the size of a cruise ship, carry vehicles of all types. From this port they predominantly haul cars, trucks, and SUV’s- with the occasional industrial vehicle like a dump truck or crane- to Middle Eastern ports. This captain told me that now, and for a few months now, they are carrying large numbers of military vehicles to the Middle East.

Hmmmm. Somebody must have known this tanker attack was coming eh?

It is tempting to say that Iran may be getting set-up, by the itchy trigger fingers at the MIC. That they are only using the North Korean strategy of bluster and intimidation to get what they want, and that they are smart enough to know war with the US will be very costly.

However, when dealing with Iran, there is a factor that is missing from most equations:

Islam, like Christianity, has end-times beliefs. (Many of them are very similar to Christian beliefs- albeit inverted and/or distorted). In 2005, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad brought to light some of these apocalyptic motivations when he prayed for the return of the Mahdi during an address before the United Nations.

Islam believes that a great conflict between the Muslims and the infidels will take place. This war will actually not go well for the Muslims. Just when they are at the point of being destroyed- the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam, will appear and save them. He will wipe out the infidels and establish the caliphate. So, provoking a war with the US is just hastening the coming of the Mahdi. That is what Ahmadinejad believed.

It could easily be put this way: You’ve got one side that thinks it is necessary to kick some arse. The other side believes it is necessary to take an arse-kicking. How do you think that will play out?

Africans coming across southern border have ‘rolls of $100 bills’

The “poor huddled masses” coming across the southern border may not be so poor after all.

Swiss journalist Urs Gehriger recently visited African migrants who breached the border and hung out on the streets of San Antonio, Texas, waiting to go elsewhere in the country, and he met hostility from people who didn’t want to share details about their experiences, conflicted each other, and had rolls of $100 bills.

In a recording played on Fox News, Gehriger asks a migrant from Congo how she got to America.

She refused to say.

“We are here now in the United States. Why do you ask about Ecuador?” a woman said, referring to the reported country they passed through.

As Gehriger continued to ask simple questions, he said they backtracked and “were not answering at all.”

“They wouldn’t tell me anything about how they got here, and then they started to get aggressive and they were contradicting each other,” he told Laura Ingraham.

“One said they ran through the forest, and another said no, there was no forest, and they were actually arguing among themselves,” Gehriger said.

He said they started to get “aggressive” after questions about money and help.

Gehriger believes the illegals were coached on giving answers to authorities.

“I had the impression that somebody told them not to speak about it,” and acting like “now we’re here, you have to help us, give us money.”

“What I found from an aid worker there, they actually do have money. Quite a few of them, because he spotted them under a tree, right in front of the shelter, counting a roll of money with hundred dollar bills,” Gehriger told Ingraham.

Hundreds of migrants Congo and Angola were transported to San Antonio the week before, and city officials say they received no warning from the feds that they were coming.

KENS published a story showing dozens of people milling around downtown, saying they arrived at the southern U.S. border by way of Ecuador.

All told, 350 Africans arrived that week.

City officials say CBP told them another 200-300 would be arriving later.

One migrant told reporter Jaleesa Irizarry via Google translate that he came to America “for security reasons” and once he made it, “with the help of the USA, I can get it back,” referring to his family that stayed behind.

A video from CBP shot last week shows group of illegals from Angola, Cameroon and Congo waded across the Rio Grande River and into the United States.

Male and female adults can be seen walking through the water and into Texas, several with children on their shoulders.

According to CBP, it was the first large group from Africa to try to breach the U.S. border via Mexico.

“Large groups present a unique challenge for the men and women of the Del Rio Sector,” Chief Raul Ortiz said in a news release. “This large group from Africa further demonstrates the complexity and severity of the border security and humanitarian crisis at our Southwest border.”

“This is the first large group apprehended in the Del Rio Sector and the first large group of people from Africa – including nationals from Angola, Cameroon and Congo – apprehended on the Southwest border this year,” according to CBP.

There were 116 in the group, the agency says.

The doomsday clock is two minutes to midnite. Everywhere we see tragedy, disasters, corruption… what can I/me- one person- possibly do to make any kind of meaningful difference in a time such as this?

I know exactly what you do my friend- paint your wagon.

Some of you have probably heard the story before. It is one I heard when I was just a wee Bondo- and its message was simple enough for me to understand and remember:

The little boy finds a can of red paint, and paints his wagon. Proud of the shiny new wagon that the coat of paint has produced, he pulls it around front and puts it in front of the garage where everyone can see it. When his father gets home, he notices the shiny new wagon and praises the son for his working hard and making the wagon look like new again.

Pa noticed something else when he looked at the shiny new wagon: the garage behind the wagon looked terrible. Faded, peeling paint, stains, dirt. Well, naturally, now Pa has to paint the garage.

As they stand back and admire the shiny new wagon, and shiny new garage, Ma notices that the house next to the garage and wagon suddenly doesn’t look so good.

Well, you can probably see by now where this is going. The neighbor has to paint his house too and soon the whole neighborhood, and then, the whole town has got a new coat of paint and looks fantastic. Travelers through the town notice, take it back, and it goes viral as we say today. Soon the whole world looks brighter because of the one little boy who painted his wagon.

One of my favorite scriptures, in which Jesus so eloquently explains this concept is:

Matthew 5: 14-16-

¹⁴ Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

¹⁵ Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

This is what you can do. We are all part of something bigger. You never know when something you say or do will make a big difference in someone else’s life. You never know when someone desperately needs to see some light.

If your light always shines, it will shine when it matters.

You don’t paint your wagon, and then put it in the closet. You load it up and take it down the street. You give rides in it. You let that shiny new wagon bring joy, like it is supposed to.

Don’t be surprised when you realize you have made a difference, you have made things better around you. If you do that, you have made the world a better place.

And also, don’t be surprised if your shiny new wagon doesn’t inspire anyone else. Even if the whole town stays faded, peeling, worn- you can be happy that you have the best wagon around. It is there in case anyone ever wants a ride.

Let your light shine. Paint your wagon.

That is the real deal.

A local news reporter looking for French-speaking volunteers to communicate with the individuals made a request on Twitter.

“City confirms hundreds of migrants from the Congo have arrived in SA. The city is in desperate need for French-speaking volunteers,” Jaleesa Irizarry of Kens 5 San Antonio wrote on Thursday.

In a local news report, Interim Assistant City Manager Dr. Collen Bridger said, “We didn’t get a heads up.”

Bridger said the illegal aliens started to arrive in town on Tuesday and that CBP confirmed “another 200 to 300 from the Congo and Angola will be coming to San Antonio.”

“A group of about 350 migrants from the Congo will be arriving in San Antonio in the near future,” a notice from the San Antonio Department of Human Services reads.

After being placed in San Antonio, the illegal immigrants are bussed to a destination of their choice by local charities who spend “roughly $14,000 a week on bus tickets.”

Last weekend, a group of more than 100 illegals from Angola, Cameroon and Congo were filmed wading through the Rio Grande River and entering the United States.

In a statement, CBP said, “Agents have encountered 182 large groups (100+ individuals) across the SW border this fiscal year. This is the first large group apprehended in Del Rio Sector this FY and the first large group apprehended on the SW border this FY consisting entirely of African nationals.”

We have a law-abiding society because most of us voluntarily agree for it to be so- there are not enough police if everybody just decided to just do whatever they want. The fabric that holds this together, the respect for the rule of law- is under assault by the very people we have always relied upon to be the gatekeepers of this sacred social contract.
