You are hereby summoned to appear at the good fight.
Be prepared to fight.
1Timothy 6:12- Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
You are called to fight the good fight. It is how you grab the prize.
It can seem contradictory- talking about fighting- when we also preach turn the other cheek. But see, the good fight isn’t always a physical fight, but it is always good. When you turn the other cheek, you are fighting the good fight.
The good fight is the struggle to overcome. It is the will to always choose the right thing. It is the courage to suffer whatever is put upon us and the faith to know that no matter what, God will see us through.
Tragedies will befall, betrayals will come, heartbreak and grief will accompany us all the days of our lives. That’s why we fight.
If you don’t fight, the opponent will bring you down. If you don’t fight, you will not get better at it. If you don’t fight, you will regret it.
If you don’t fight, YOU WON’T WIN!
The good fight is loving God at all times, in good times and bad. It is loving others, even when it isn’t easy to or they don’t deserve it. It is praying for good things. It is doing the next right thing.
When you fight, others see you overcome. You are professing a good profession- the good fighter who takes hold of the prize. They are encouraged by your fight, and are inspired to carry on.
I enjoy a good message from a variety of sources. Here is one from one of my old 80’s faves- Triumph. I like the way they express it:
The days grow shorter and the nights are getting long
Feels like we’re running out of time
Every day it seems much harder tellin’ right from wrong
You got to read between the linesDon’t get discouraged, don’t be afraid, we can
Make it through another day
Make it worth the price we payThe Good Book says it’s better to give than to receive
I do my best to do my part
Nothin’ in my pockets I got nothin’ up my sleeve
I keep my magic in my heartKeep up your spirit, keep up your faith, baby
I am counting on you
You know what you’ve got to doFight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
It’s your only wayAll your life you’ve been waiting for your chance
Where you’ll fit into the plan
But you’re the master of your own destiny
So give and take the best that you canYou think a little more money will buy your soul some rest
You’d better think of something else instead
You’re so afraid of being honest with yourself
You’d better take a look inside your headNothing is easy, nothing good is free
But I can tell you where to start
Take a look inside your heart
There’s an answer in your heartFight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
Make it worth the price we payEvery moment of your lifetime
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
Make it worth the price we pay

Your life has been given to you. There are tasks that no one else can do for you. If you want to win, you must fight.
The good fight. There’s no other way.
2 Timothy 4:7- I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
